Source of Inspiration: Design

                                                                    Flowers

The design inspiration for today is flowers. Yes, I know it is a bit too late to be talking about flowers because it is already December but I was going through my instagram pictures this semester and I saw quite a few pictures of the flowers. I captured them while walking around campus. I stopped to admire their beauty. I realized that no one makes an effort to stop and thank the people who work so hard planting the flowers around campus everyday. Everyone just rushes to class in the morning and comes back right after their done. Sometimes you need to make to just go enjoy the nature and the beauty that comes with it.

Here are a few pictures that I have taken :

Source of Inspiration: Typography

I have been working on a new class project where is have to create a layout of a website for the company Nerd News. I decided to make this a scientific news online newspaper for a college university. As I was going trough different fonts to use for the texts I came across two fonts - one looks more serious and bold than the other. I am still trying to choose which one I should use for my project. I came across these fonts when I was going through online examples and it caught my attention. I think I will I will be able to also incorporate the second font - Alien League in to my blog for a better effect

Below are the two fonts:

Black Wedding: Yay or Nay?

I think it sure does bring a whole new perspective. I think brides wear a black wedding just to be different. I thought white was a must but black is now the dress shade of choice. Black is a leading trend for the fashion-forward bride who wants to make a bold statement,' said a spokesman for bridal website WeddingPath, which has more than 2,000 visitors a month.
'Black dresses embellished with lace and pearls are an attractive choice, but you can also consider black piping or embroidery over the classic white dress.'One reason for the popularity could be that some couples are having elegant evening weddings to cut down costs and so black is a good dress colour alternative, she suggests.

The trend is not as bizarre as it sounds. Brides wore different colors until the 19th century because they simply chose their best dress, rather than buy a new one.

Source on Inspiration : Color

                                                      FALL

When I started writing this blog it was fall and the colors of fall inspired me with this creation. The colors of my page and the ideal wedding consists of the fall colors starting from a range of yellow to orange to red. I found this color to be perfect with my design because to me this shade is a very calm but bright color. For me the light shades of orange are a soothing color. I think what impacted me most was the environment. I was just surrounded with the shades of these colors and I wanted to create something with it.

Here are some pictures I have taken and inspired me to use these colors.

Sources of inspiration-

                                                                           MOM

I have always wanted to be an event planner! It has been something I loved to do! My first inspiration is my mom! She used to always participate in planning event for the Srilankan community back at Bangladesh. She used to cater for events and my sister and I used to always help her. We also used to throw alot of parties at our place and my mom used to make a huge list of all the dishes she was planning to prepare! we used to think its impossible but how she managed her time and prepared everything in order used to amaze us. I love cooking with her. And since I was a small girl I would always be interested in that field. But living in developing countries it was a tough major to do because there is always an uncertainty of jobs available. So that is why till July of this year I have been studying Computer Science. I just could not keep going because I want to something I love doing. I do not want to regret in the future because I did not take the courage to do what I love doing. I have to thank my mom for the support she has given me to do my best ! Thankyou mom

Book the Entertainment!

You want your guests to be have fun right? You do not want them to bored !
So hire entertainers to help light up the room. I will be giving you the 10 best tips on planning and booking your wedding entertainment!

1. Set out a budget- This is bit of an obvious factor, but its is an important one nonetheless. Set out a part of your wedding budget aside for the type of entertainment that you would want to be having.
2. Book Early- All bands and performers usually have alot on their plate. It is very rare that they are free for sudden bookings. There is an increased demand but a very reduced supply so they prices increase if not booked earlier. Choose the type of music you would want to listen to and make a booking!
3. Scrutinize timings- They usually get paid by the hour so even if they are setting up all the equipment they need to  be getting paid for the time. so manage your timings accordingly and let them know when they need to arrive.
4. Keep your options open-  There are many tonnes of entertainment  options so keep an open mind. It will help you to consider alternative ideas so that you will have a wider range of options.
5. Do your research- Watch videos, google bands and see the profile reviews before picking the band you want. Check their reputation.
6. Book off peak-  This is because you can get cheaper rates. book when its always less busy.
7. Explore versatility- Some musicians may have more talents and will be willing to perform different things. For example they may also be a DJ or might be  able to perform solos with an instrument
8. Themes- Choose a theme everyone will like. Ask a few family members if they would like it. Get opinions.
9. Be flexible- Sometimes you may not get what your looking for so be flexible, give them more options and see what you can do.
10. Venue- Make sure you let them know the venue because they will bring the equipment according to the place and the number of people.

Pre-wedding jitters

Is it normal?

Top 3 causes

1. The wedding day- Sometimes it is the wedding day itself that causes anxiety. They are anxious about being the center of attention. You are worrying if everything is perfect- the food , the decor, the dress, the cake... everything. Because you want everything to be perfect. During this period all you need is to be with your loved ones, Getting support for your wedding is essential. Relax and take time off, let the wedding planner do your work for you. You are paying for the paying for the event planner after all right? haha.

2. Becoming a "wife" or "husband"-  Our parents marriages are the foundation for our own marriage. So yes there sure is alot of expectations. We learn from them on how relationships work. they form the base line for us. The thought of becoming a wife or husband can be intimidating and overwhelming because you want to make sure that you do not to anything wrong and that you will have to provide for your husband or wife and later on your family. It's not an easy thing, it surely is a lot of responsibility.

3.What is the plan? - You start thinking about your future. If you want a family, if you will be able to provide for them, will you get a stable job, If you will need a new car.

Slow down... Sit with your partner and take your time and have a casual conversation. talk and discuss all the questions, plan it openly before your wedding day because there are situations where one wants to have a baby after the marriage and the other does not so they get divorced because of all the fights regarding the matter. If it is really needed, you can get a couples counselor, they will help you get your goals straight and improve your communication skills.

When it comes to weddings, much of the planning goes into the venue. It all depends on the kind of atmosphere you want to be in, the people you want to surround yourself with. The most popular kind of weddings would be beach weddings. Most find this ideal, not only because of the magnificent view, but also because it’s economical.  Well-known beach destinations would include Hawaii and Aruba.

For those who would prefer a more rugged atmosphere, places like Arizona would be perfect. This city is ideal for its turquoise jewelry, saguaro cacti and deep-orange sunsets. In Arizona, ski slopes, red rocks and desert dunes all stand at the ready for your wedding away. If you are looking for a more intimate setting for your wedding, a countryside wedding would be more than perfect. It exemplifies a rich heritage of country charm. These weddings tend to have more of a romantic ambiance and can be held either indoors or outdoors, according to your own liking.

Venue is one of the most important things to look into for your important day. The venue can be any place you feel comfortable with. I personally would choose a beautiful bright wedding hall located in a hotel or a bungalow a little bit away from the city.

There are many things to note down when planning a venue-
  • Name of the Venue
  • Location- ( city, outskirts)
  • Capacity: Make sure you make the list of people you want invite at first so it makes choosing much more easier.
  • Availability: Try to get it on the date you want! Do not give up!
  • Type: Such as hotel, outdoor, historical, restaurant.
  • Layout: How you want the venue to look like - (name your preferences so that the event planner can plan it according to your wishes.)
  • Rates: Write your budget down. Always remember that there is an alternative if all the hotels in the city are booked then look around look for open spaces. keep your eyes open for opportunities.
  • Website: You can easily go back and remind yourself with photos on the venue’s site.
  • Restrictions: Look out for the rules and regulations given by the hotel. Opening times, closing times and so on.
  • Parking/Transportation: Make sure all your guests will have available parking space. You do not want them to fuss over parking spots.
  • Facility Extras: make sure there are proper facilities- the right number of chairs and tables, A/C and so on.
  • Caterer: Keep your options open. Do not just stick to one... and make sure to book in advance.

Who says your grandma can not be part of your big day! This is one of the best ways to put a smile on their face. They love to help and be a part of your big day as much as possible! I think it would be a great gift for them. Bridesmaids do not need to be of a specific age and most of them will be happy to do it no matter what! I really think this is a nice gesture and hope that you consider this to be an option to share your happiness with your loved ones.

The smiles on their faces just show the gratitude and excitement on their granddaughters great day!

Flowers. They sure do play a major role in weddings. Everyone has their own idea of the type of flowers they want for their wedding. I would like to share mine, roses. I love how they light up the whole room. First off, I would like the table centre piece to be a chalice preferably silver or light golden and the roses should be of atomic tangerine or tea rose orange colored. These colors are share a very calm and gentle vibe. I would also add a few petals on each table.

Next, the brides bouquet also should have a nice, vibrant orange. Not light  but also bright enough soothing the eyes. To match the decor, either the bride or the bridesmaids can wear accordingly.

If you are someone who prefers a white wedding dress you an have the bridesmaids wear the color but if you want to step out of your comfort zone. you can wear an elegant dress with the color combinations of apricot orange, melon and white. Something like I have showed below.

I was inspired by this color theme when I was searching for flowers to gift to my mom. This color just spoke to me, because weddings in my mind are simple and elegant and I found that this color checked all the boxes.

Look out for more unique wedding ideas!
